Tip #4 Control Your Portions
8 Tips to Lose Weight and Prevent Obesity
Develop healthy habits by making small changes to your routine. Consider the following tips to prevent obesity and improve your health.
#4 Control Your Portions
Portion control is a big issue in the United States and not just for truck drivers. Approximately one-third of children and 60% of adults are either overweight or obese, and large portions are partially to blame. Especially when on-the-go, it can be difficult to judge how much you’re really eating and whether the portion itself is too large.
An easy way to keep portions under control is to first divide your food into groups: protein, vegetables, starch (potatoes, pasta, etc.) and fruit. Your goal should be to consume portions of each food group no larger than your fist. Reduce temptation to eat more by drinking a glass of water prior to your meal or ordering a half portion if at a restaurant.
